Experience Lakeside Youth Football League
We are excited to serve the Ashtabula community with this opportunity for youth football and cheer in our area! We will be dedicated to demonstrating positive support, a safe and healthy environment, and most of all FUN for all players, coaches, and families involved.
Lakeside Youth Football League was established in 2016 and became part of the Freeway Youth Football League. The Freeway League consists of member communities Buckeye, Conneaut, Geneva, Jefferson, Pymatuning Valley, Madison, and Lakeside. We love offering a sense of the LAKESIDE FAMILY for our youth program, where all of our families cheer each other on and support and encourage all of our teams. We have the important support of our Junior High and High School Football and Cheer programs. Our practices and home games are at the Lakeside Junior High football field. Our away games are played at the other communities' fields, so traveling will be required. We welcome you to Dragon Territory and our Lakeside Family!
Our Executive Board consists of:
President: Kevin Crockett
Vice President: Bill Schlegel
Secretary: Laura Derylak
Treasurer: Kristie Crockett
Cheer Advisor: Position Available!
We are in need of BOARD MEMBERS! Please let us know if you are interested in becoming part of this team!! We'd love to meet with you!!
Our Board meets once a month with the exception of the November, December and January months. We welcome your input!
We have many coaches and volunteers that are an important part of the success of our program. We are always looking for volunteers who wish to become part of our Lakeside Family! All coaches and volunteers are required to submit to a background check. Let us know if you are interested in becoming part of our LYFL Volunteer Team!

CHEERLEADER RULES & INFO
UNDERSTANDING WHY WE HAVE A DEMERIT SYSTEM
Overall, we do not anticipate having to struggle with discipline for our LYFL Cheerleaders. However, we have found that there does need to be a system in place to handle and address those few times where rules are not being followed, and inappropriate behavior needs to be documented. Having this demerit system also starts to teach the girls the effect that their behavior and attitude has on their entire squad. We want this to be a pleasant and fun experience for all of them, and we need all children to understand that they are one part of a whole team. When there is turmoil with one child, it causes the entire squad to become disrupted. Having accountability for their actions is an important part of being on a team that depends on each other. We hope you understand and encourage your child to be a good listener and a respectful Lakeside cheerleader!
