2009 LYFL SUMMER AND FALL SCHEDULE
LYFL is pleased to announce 3 separate events scheduled for the summer and fall
of 2009.
In addition to our annual fall football season, we will be hosting 2
comprehensive camps this summer.
Players from 5 – 12 years old are invited to sign up for any or all of these
events offered. We will offer the Camp and
Pre-Season workouts to 13 year olds this year. Collectively these
programs add up to 5 FULL MONTHS OF YOUTH
FOOTBALL!
All of the scheduled
events will he held at the Kentucky Indoor and will require appropriate shoes
(no cleats).
The programs we are offering are as follows:

LYFL / MARTY MOORE SUMMER YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP
Our second year for this camp will feature full-contact football emphasizing the
fundamentals of blocking, tackling, ball carrying, throwing and catching. Marty
Moore is a former NFL linebacker who played 8 seasons with the Super Bowl
Champions New England Patriots. He
also played 1 year with the Cleveland Browns.
Marty, along with other former NFL and college football players, will
provide one-on-one instruction for the entire camp.
Our staff of volunteer coaches will assist these football experts in
providing a comprehensive, productive and informative program.
This is a great opportunity to learn from the best.
The camp will be conducted in full pads provided by LYFL (see the section
on the LYFL FALL SEASON for specific equipment information).
The dates and times for this 5 session camp are as follows:
June 23 (Tuesday) 5:30 – 7:30 pm
June 26 (Friday) 5:30 – 8:00 pm
June 27 (Saturday) 9:00 – 11:30 am
June 30 (Tuesday) 5:30 – 7:30 pm
July 3 (Friday) 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Cost of the camp is $150. Equipment
will be passed out the week prior to the start of camp (exact dates will be
posted once we get close to the start of the camp).
LYFL PRE-SEASON STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM
This will be an informal program geared towards age-appropriate strengthening
and conditioning for the attendees.
Sessions will include sports-specific strengthening exercises, plyometric
techniques, as well as speed and agility training.
We will also be coaching fundamental techniques for safe blocking and
tackling using non-contact drills, as well as throwing and catching drills.
This program is designed for both the players that could not attend the
SUMMER CAMP (so they can get a head start on football fundamentals and
conditioning), as well as for players that want to continue their pre-season
training and conditioning following the SUMMER CAMP in preparation for the FALL
SEASON. Shorts, T- shirts, and
appropriate athletic shoes (no cleats) are the only equipment needed.
We will be offering up to 8 sessions for your child.

July 31 (Friday)
The cost for the full camp is $80.
Each session will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

ANNUAL LYFL FALL FOOTBALL SEASON
The season will begin the first
week of August.
We will have player evaluations, a player draft, equipment distribution, and
several weeks of team practices before starting the 10-game season on September
5, 2009. The Championship games will
be played November 1, 2009 (dates subject to change).
Practices during the season will be either on Monday/ Wednesday or
Tuesday/Thursday depending on the teams.
Practices will be held each night from 5:30 until 7:15 pm.
Games will be played every Saturday (times of the games will be based on
the division your child is in). Divisions
are split into the following age groups: 5-6 yr olds, 7-8 yr olds, 9-10 yr olds,
and 11-12 yr olds. The birthday cut-of-date for each division is August 1.
Practices and games will be played at Kentucky Indoor. further details
concerning the season will follow.
A full set of football equipment will be provided by LYFL.
This includes a helmet, shoulder pads, practice and game jerseys, and a
seven-piece pad/pants set. Parents
are required to supply personal items such as a mouth-guard, athletic supporter
and cup, and athletic shoes (no cleats).
All equipment supplied by LYFL must be returned at the end of the season
(and at the end of the SUMMER SKILLS CAMP if your child attends).
Cost of the season will be $200.
This cost includes fees for the facilities used, equipment usage, and general
operating expenses for the league.
There will be a $25 late fee for sign-ups once the season starts.
In conclusion, the goal of this organization is to provide a safe and positive
environment for kids to learn the game of football.
As owners of LYFL, we are dedicated to ensuring your child is taught the
fundamentals of football with an emphasis on safety and sportsmanship.
We, as well as our coaches, are all volunteers who love teaching kids the
game that we ourselves grew up watching, playing and loving.
The LYFL will hold all of its games at
the Kentucky Indoor Sports complex, providing a comfortable climate controlled
atmosphere and solid turf playing surface for its athletes. LYFL does have out
of town teams come and play our teams indoors, 9, 10 and 11&12 will have some
outside games. Also we will go to a National Tournament at the end of the year
for all ages, the National Tournament will be played outdoors this will consist
of an all-star type of situation.
The season will end with a championship
bowl game in each division, on November 1st, 2008.

LYFL will feature four elite divisions.
Mighty-light weight division (5, 6)
Light weight division (7, 8)
Middle weight division (9,10)
Heavy weight division (11,12)
All athletes in each division are
required to play a minimum of two quarters per game, to insure that all the
young athletes get their fair share of playing time. Player
attendance at practice is mandatory. Our Policy does allow
modifications to playing time based on attendance at practice.
